What We Do
WestFair Rides is a new transportation alternative for older adults (aged 60+) and adults with vision disabilities in Westchester County, NY.
Sound Shore Region
Beginning in 2012, WestFair Rides has been providing the following services in the Sound Shore communities of southeast Westchester:
- Information and referral to ride options including municipal, county, Paratransit, and other ride providers
- Rides to medical appointments provided by volunteer drivers
Included in the Sound Shore region are the communities of Pelham, New Rochelle, Rye/Port Chester/Rye Brook, Harrison/Purchase, Scarsdale, Larchmont/Mamaroneck, and White Plains.
Beginning October, 2013, thanks to new federal grant funding, WFR began to work in the northeast corner towns of Westchester with town recreation departments, medical providers and other volunteer organizations to ensure that older adults are able to keep their medical appointments.
Towns in the northeast region inlcude Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Castle, North Salem, and Pound Ridge.
All of Westchester County
By December 2016, WFR had expanded information & referral and volunteer ride service to the entire county. Volunteers are especially needed to drive to medical appointments along the Hudson River from Yonkers and the River Towns up into Peerkskill and Cortlandt Manor.
WestFair Rides and other worthy volunteer ride programs depend on volunteer drivers.
